Double Door FREE show alert By tobinator - Sun, 6 Nov 2011, 03:19
Greetings from I Lost Control HQ!
Hope you like the minor website redesign – the security camera snap of us escaping from the last show was too priceless not to raise to the top of the page. Why were we escaping? Ask Tina about her bar tab.
Mark your calendars: FREE show at Double Door Wed 16 Nov .
JB will be debuting his fancy new drum set. He is still up-in-the-air about adopting a stage name (‘Spill Phetcor’). We’ll keep you posted on that one.
Hope to see you there!
Busy Time in the ILC Camp! By Stevo - Tue, 27 Sep 2011, 14:33
Figured I’d start out with a big thank you to all that came out for our CD release show at The Abbey on September 9th. We had a blast! Thanks again to our musical partners in crime:
Special thanks to Michele Mach of MachArt Inc. and Tom Rose for all the help. Also thanks to Sean Duffy and Last Rites Management and The Abbey Pub. Thanks to August Forte and Novo Arts for getting the word out. Speaking of which, thanks to WLUW and Radio One Chicago, DJ John at UIC Radio, Fearless FM and Dirty, and Richard Milne of WXRT and Local Anesthetic.
Also there’s some awesome pics from Don Horne Photography that we’ll share very soon!
Alright, enough living in the past. The band is moving forward with a couple of gigs this week. For the night-owl set, we’re playing with Rabid Fang, Gidgets Ga Ga, and These Guys These Guys at Stage Bar (formally known as Memories) at 4358 N. Cicero Ave, Chicago IL. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. Show is at 8:30 and we’re up second.
We’re really excited about the next gig. If we normally play too late for you, how about checking us out at the Ravenswood Art Walk on Saturday, Oct 1st at 4:30PM? It’s a great festival with 250 artists showing. This year, there’s the RAW Street Fair between Montrose and Sunnyside, a block filled with art, food and drink, live music and activities for adults and kids alike!
Hope to see you at one (or both) of the shows!

We’re excited to announce that we’ll have a song played on the awesome local music show, Local Anesthetic on WXRT tomorrow night, September 4th, at 7:30PM. Host Richard Milne does a great job of showcasing and promoting local and regional acts. We feel honored to be included in the show leading up to our CD release at the Abbey Pub this coming Friday, September 9th.
Remember, the show starts at 8:30PM and includes our great friends and Chicago musicians, Cletus Darby, The Purcells, and Kitty Devine. You can save a couple of bucks by getting tickets in advance here for $8. At the door they are $10.
Listen in tomorrow at 93.1FM (or through the XRT website if you are outside the Chicago listening area) and see us at the show Friday!
New shows, new radio appearances, new pants By tobinator - Sun, 28 Aug 2011, 08:13
Hope you’ve been enjoying the summer!
As all good rockers will tell you, leather pants do not mix well with heat and humidity. As such I Lost Control have been holed up at their air-conditioned HQ plotting for the future.
Jennifer has taken some time out and we’re delighted to welcome new-born Melody May to the extended I Lost Control family. Congratulations to Jennifer and husband Kyle of The Vindits for successfully putting two Chicago bands out of action for a few months
In the meantime, we’re very pleased to draft JB Hopkins on the skins. An alumni of the Athens, GA scene, read more about him in our ‘About’ page.
Lots of good things happening over the next few months.
Our fearless leader Steve will be talking about the new EP with with the indomitable Alt.Classics radio show. Check out their Facebook page and tune in live to hear thoughts on life, the universe and international kitten rescue.
Thanks again to Tim @ Alt.Classics – check ‘em out, we particularly enjoyed the Joy Division and Frank Zappa sections of the show.
I Lost Control Selected for the cover of the latest Rolling Stone By Stevo - Fri, 1 Apr 2011, 15:00
We’re freaking out!!!
This came totally out of the blue. We knew that the pre-release of our debut EP, Cones & Arrows was creating some buzz on the East Coast, so we didn’t think too much when we had a press kit request from Avenue of the Americas, NY, NY. We sent it along and then, frankly, kinda forgot about it.
Last week I got a call from an “independent writer” from New York who wanted to get some background about the band. Although it was a short ten minute interview, but I was pretty excited about it. She said that it was for an upcoming article about Midwest bands but couldn’t tell me exactly when and where the article would be published. I sorta figured that we were being talked about in The Deli , CHIRP or maybe The Indie…
Then came word today through a special UPS delivery. The contents included an article and a mock-up of a magazine cover. A ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE COVER. That’s right folks. We’re going to be on a news stand near you, cover band for the great Rolling Stone with an article about terrific bands like Gag Order, Team Band, The Debauchers, Boutros, and us! I can’t believe it!
The mock up is posted here. Since the publication hits the news stands today, we could let the “cat out of the bag.” Grab a copy and read the article…it’s awesome!
We’re so excited about being part of this resurgence of great rock!

Deli Magazine results are in! By tobinator - Mon, 21 Feb 2011, 11:57
… which means I Lost Control finished a strong second. Many thanks for your vote and support, and of course congratulations to Pet Peeve, who are worthy winners.
On a related note, I Lost Control is now pushing #48 in the Deli’s ‘all genres’ chart, and have somehow sneaked up to #6 in the Chicago Indie Chart.
Wow! No idea how that happened. If anyone sees Steveo, please tell him not to change his lucky underpants – they seem to be working.
Shout out in the Deli By tobinator - Fri, 18 Feb 2011, 09:54
Also, if you’re interested in the limited edition vinyl, drop us a line at ‘info AT ilostcontrol DOT com’. Grant has his eye on buying up the whole lot and flogging them at record shows in twenty years time. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
